Empties | 4
I sometimes worry that because I have quite a lot (ok...A LOT) of skincare products, I won't use anything for as long as I should to see the benefits. This is my fourth empties post in as many months so I'm very pleased with how many products I have completely finished recently! This time, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner and the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask
I had seen this product all over Instagram and was very excited when Cult Beauty started stocking it. I don't actually use face masks very often, mainly just The Ordinary Peeling Solution, but I read so many good reviews about this mask that I wanted to give it a go.
This vegan product contains a nourishing mix of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants and gently exfoliating extracts including chestnut extract, niacinamide, green tea extract and vitamin C. I would put a thick layer all over my face and let it sink in for half an hour and then use a face cloth to remove any excess. It can also be used as a moisturiser/primer but I didn't use it in that way.
I mainly used this when my skin was dry and irritated from retinol use and it was brilliant for hydrating and calming my skin. I also used it a few times straight after using The Ordinary Peeling Solution and it was an amazing combo, it made my skin very smooth and plump.
It's quite a pricey mask at £42 but I would recommend it. What face masks do you guys love?
The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner
I had finished up my Indie Lee CoQ-10 lotion and remembered using The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner in my early twenties and enjoying it so I picked it up again. I don't think you necessarily need to use a toner but I sometimes like to use one first thing in the morning instead of cleansing and I always use one in the evening after cleansing to freshen my face and make sure my skin is completely clean before I put a serum on.
The Aloe Calming Toner is fragrance and alcohol free and contains Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice. I did find it to be very calming and refreshing and it didn't upset my skin when it was irritated from retinol use.
The Body Shop always seems to have at least 30% off voucher codes so this is very affordable, I paid around £5. I will definitely repurchase.
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
You guys know how much I love the Cerave PM moisturiser and I love this cleanser too. It is fragrance free and contains three essential ceramides plus hyaluronic acid. It is a thin consistency, very gentle and doesn't strip the skin at all.
I mainly use it in the shower in the morning when I don't use The Body Shop toner. It also works well to take make up off when used with a microfiber facecloth.
It isn't luxurious in any way but if you want a gentle, effective cleanser that is very affordable, I would highly recommend this. It is now available in Boots in the UK.
