Alex Steinherr x Primark Review
I first heard about beauty goddess Alessandra Steinherr when I was 23 and doing an internship at a beauty PR agency. She has been Beauty Director at Glamour for over ten years and knows everything there is to know about make up and skincare. I was so excited when I heard she was bringing out a skincare range and even more excited when I heard it was going to be so affordable. I love that she chose to partner with Primark so that the skincare line was available to more people. Every product is £6 or under!
A note about the availability, I live in London and some, but not all, of the range has been in the Primark at Westfield Stratford and also the Primark at Tottenham Court Road. I have seen lots of comments on Instagram about the range not being available in their local Primark. I contacted them to see if the line was going to be rolled out to all stores but they haven’t got back to me yet.
There are 20 products in the line under five different categories to suit skin needs rather than skin types – Pollution Solution, Pore Balance, Maximum Moisture, Plump and Glow and Sleep Spa. I like the minimal packaging style and I love that the products are fragrance, essential oil and cruelty free. I picked up the Micellar Cleansing Gel, Hydration on-the-go, Plumping Lip Gloss, Super Detox Clay Mousse Face Mask and the Oil-free Gel Hydrator. I really wanted to try the One-Step Night Cleanse and the Dual Texture Exfoliating Pads but they weren’t available in either of the Primarks I went to.
Micellar Cleansing Gel
This product is a hybrid between a micellar water and a cleansing gel, I’ve never used anything like it before. I massage the gel all over my face with damp fingers in the evening to take off any makeup and SPF I have on and then remove it with a microfibre cloth. I never wear heavy makeup so it gets every last trace off in one go. The bottle is huge and will last forever. I would definitely recommend it as the first step in your evening skincare routine and I think it would be suitable for all skin types.
This little tube is packed with hyaluronic acid, one of the best ingredients for dehydrated skin. It can be tapped into any particularly parched areas of your face or mixed into moisturiser. I have actually been using it mixed into my CC cream to give it a bit more hydration and I’ve been really enjoying it. This is one of my favourite products that I’ve tried from the line and I would definitely repurchase.
Plumping Lip Gloss
As soon as I saw the plumping lip gloss, I knew I had to have it. In the tube it looks very similar to my favourite lip product, Fenty Gloss Bomb. The plumping lip gloss doesn’t have as much colour or shine to it but I really like how it feels on my lips. It’s not sticky at all, very light and gives a lovely sheen. I reach for it all the time throughout the day.
Super Detox Clay Mousse Face Mask
This detox mask contains kaolin, bentonite, niacinamide, charcoal powder and raspberry leaf extract to deep cleanse and purify the skin. It has a very unique mousse consistency and I like that it doesn’t set down hard like a lot of clay masks do (and they are then so hard to get off!) My skin always feels nice and refreshed after using it but I don’t think it’s deep cleansing enough to make a difference to problematic skin.
Oil-free Gel Hydrator
I have mentioned before that I don’t like to put heavy moisturisers and creams on my face anymore, I much prefer lighter, hydrating formulas. This oil-free gel is very similar in consistency to my absolute favourite Cerave PM moisturiser and it hydrates my skin in a similar way too. It contains acai berry and peach flower extract to fight against pollution. It’s a winner.
Overall, I think this line is brilliant and well worth the money. I want to try the other fifteen products now…Primark – please put this range in all of your stores!
